The GEM20 Digital Scale is a perfect scale for weighing jewels or any kind of small precious objects, such as coins, gemstones, jewelry, gold, silver, etc, and it is extremely accurate. It has a very high capacity of up to 20 grams and professional accuracy of 0.001g. The GEM20 digital scale sets 6 different modes of measurement (g, ozt, dwt, ct, gn, oz) to meet different needs. It is small, compact and convenient to carry around and use on-the-go. The digital scale features a flip open protective cover, to protect the weighing platform and a back lit LCD display that helps make the numbers easy to read.
Tips & Care:
Prior to using your scale for the first time, remove the plastic insulation strips from the battery compartment. Place scale on a flat level surface, press the ON key to turn on the scale, wait until “0.0” (zero) is displayed, place the included tray on the weighing platform, you are ready to weigh. Place the object(s) on the included tray; wait a few seconds for the display to stabilize before taking a weight reading.
Functions:
Tare key, to subtract the weight of an empty tray, container or box for net weight determination. Mode key, which allows you to change the measurement unit from grams to ounces to pennyweight to troy ounces - all in one measure!

The Smart Weigh GEM20 is a small portable scale with a maximum weight of 20 grams and is readable to 0.001 grams (1 mg). The scale can be set to weigh in ounce, gn, dwt, ct, and ozt. The scale is powered by two supplied AA batteries.
This is a highly dampened scale; it is not at all sensitive to vibrations or wind currents (disturbances within reason). In other words, a marble weighing table isn't required to get stable weights.
Out of the box the scale was slightly out of calibration by 0.003 g. It is easy to calibrate the scale. The scale uses a two point calibration at 10 and 20 grams. Once calibrated with ASTM class 2 weights, standard weights across the 20 g range were accurate to +/- 0.001 g. The two supplied standard weights were slightly off, but within tolerance for class 4 weights (one was 0.006 g light, and another was 0.007 g light).
The scale is really easy to use. I never expected it to be this accurate and precise at this price point...
